Long Beach Fire Department

The Long Beach Fire Department (New York) is a fire department providing fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue and emergency ambulance services in the following communities on Long Beach Barrier Island, in Nassau County, New York:

The department, also known as the LBFD, is a combination career and volunteer department that responds to approximately 4,700 emergency calls annually. Emergency operations are commanded by a Fire Chief and two Assistant Chiefs, all from the ranks of the volunteer force. In the absence of a Chief officer, the career Lietuenant on duty is the next in command. Administrative activities are handled by a city appointed Fire Commissioner and four Deputy Fire Commissioners; all non-salaried. The LBFD operates out of 3 Fire Stations with a fleet of 5 Engines (1 spare), 2 Trucks, 1 Rescue, 3 Ambulances, 2 Water Rescue Vehicles, 1 Rescue Jet Ski, 1 Floodlight Unit, 1 Command Post, 4 Command Vehicles, and 1 Personnel Carrier.
